Dear Mr. Pawson,
I have spent the last 2 hours or so reading excerpts from your book: Unlocking the Bible. What I’ve read is wonderful! I plan on ordering the book and while looking at your website, I found myself drawn to: When Jesus Returns, a particular area of interest to me. I have gone from one who believed that Jesus would soon return before the tribulation, to one who is almost certain that it will be after. I struggle with my understanding of the “elect” in Matthew 24 and in other areas of the N.T., where it is used, but only in the sense that I;m not sure if God is referring to all those who believe or strictly to the Jews. After studying the word “elect” in the Greek, I lean towards Jew and Gentile believers. I would love to know what you thought about the usage of the word. I bought for myself a Vines Expository Dictionary of New Testament Words. It has been a help to be sure. My question to you is not meant to be divisive, but, do you equate Jesus’ gathering of His elect with the popular “rapture” prior to the tribulation (which I also only see as 3.5 years) or at the second coming as in 2 Thess 2? I never desire to argue with someone who holds a different view than I, just to discuss and “pick their brain” as it were. Anyway, thanks for the opportunity to “speak my mind.” I can’t wait to order my book!
God bless you sir,

p.s. I recently read a letter from Corrie Ten Boom to the American church regarding the fallacy and danger of belief in a pre-tribulation rapture. She was very convincing; also a letter from Ruth Bell Graham that alluded that she believed that we would be here during the tribulation. I just thought that was so interesting, as I felt sure her husband, Billy Graham, believed otherwise and taught otherwise. Your insight would mean a lot to me.

When Jesus Returns
5 out of 5 stars Thought provoking study on Biblical prophecy., Reviewed by M.D. Roberts
This excellent, well written in-depth study scrutinises the wide range of issues relating to Biblical prophecy and the return of Jesus Christ.
Each and every subject is dealt with by analysing all the differing viewpoints/schools of interpretation, with the writer approaching such with due reference to Scripture and subsequently presenting his own personal views as & when appropriate in relation to Israel, the Church, the interpretation of the book of Revelation, the “Rapture” and the “Millennium” etc..
At the outset the reader’s attention is drawn to what is described as the absolute accuracy of Biblical prophecy. The book citing that the declaration of future events is a major feature of the Holy Bible itself.
As the writer elaborates, the book relates how over a quarter of all the verses in the Bible contain a prediction about the future. Predictions cited as pertaining to personal, political, social, environmental, moral and meteorological issues, together with many returning to the physical return of Jesus Christ.
The writer further declaring that there are 737 separate prophecies made in Scripture, with some mentioned only once but others being mentioned up to many hundreds of times.
Of the 737 prophecies mentioned, the book reveals that 594 (over 80%) of these have already been accurately fulfilled. The remaining prophecies, which relate to the “end of the world” (which has obviously not happened yet) are shown to be taking shape at the time of writing.
This study provides clarity and insight to these issues. Whilst many readers will undoubtedly have differing opinions to some of those presented in this work, this should not prevent individuals from reading this well presented, in-depth study of an increasingly relevant subject.
Hi.
I found your Web Site by Google
And I wish you the best you can get,
the peace of God through Jesus Christ.
Most Christians have not yet begun to prepare
for Jesus’ coming. They can speak and write
about Jesus’ coming, and about the signs of the
time, yet they do not make any preparation to
meet Jesus. How can we make a preparation?
In the first hand God’s people must get the
knowledge of the Assembly of God. The
truth of the Assembly of God has never been
preached in the churches.
People have a sort of love and fellowship that
does not endure the light of God’s word. When
we mention something about churches and
denominations, and compare with what the Bible
teaches about the Assembly of God, then a
remarkable phenomenon appears. Many Christians
become afraid and nervous and point out that we
shall love the assembly and not judge and criticize.
But what is it that they apprehend as criticism?
It is God’s word!
Just these Christians who have prayed for revival
during many years, they are the worst opponents
against revival. They do not endure the light of
God’s word. They do not want to hear the truth of
the Assembly of God. They think that the
Pentecostal churches and other free churches
are Assemblies of God.
They believe that the Assembly of God is constituted
of church systems and many religious organizations.
Can you anywhere in the Bible find any hint that the
Assembly of God is an organized movement or any
church system?
In the time of the apostles any church did not exist, and
therefore the word “church” does not occur in the Bible.
Everywhere in your English Bible where you see the word
“church” it is a grave translation error. Also Matt. 16:18.
It ought to be “assembly”.
In the reality, the word “church” occurs not at all in the Bible.
I have five Bible translations in Swedish, (the oldest from
1703). Nowhere in these Bibles does the word “church”
(kyrka) occur. I have also a reference book where the New
Testament is translated word by word from Greek to Swedish.
Everywhere they translate the Greek word “ekklesia” to
församling (assembly).
Perhaps you want to raise the objection, there are many
bible translations in English which all have the word “church”.
This is a very stupid argument. A translation error does not
become better of repeating. A lie is a lie no matter how many
time it be repeated.
In Col. 1:18 (KJV) we can read: “And he (Christ) is the head
of the body, the church …” And in Eph. 5:23-24, “For the
husband is the head of the wife, even as Christ is the head of
the church: and he is the savior of the body. Therefore as the
church is subject unto Christ…”
This is a lie! The church is not subjected unto Christ. The
head of the Church is the pope, the black pope, and the devil.
The Bible translators do not make a difference between God’s
true people and Satan’s Church. From the Church’s deeds we
shall know the Church. Matt. 7:15-20. By their fruit we shall
recognize the false priesthood. The Catholic Church has
persecuted, tortured and murdered many millions of Christians.
This is a well-known fact. How could a good tree bear such
an evil fruit?
Why did the Bible translators use the same word “church” also
for God’s people, the Body of Christ? Why did not they see the
difference between the murderer and the victims for the
murderer? The first Christians were no church. Calling the
first Christians “the first church” is a grave insult against these
Christians. The Church is a mass murderer. The devil is the
real church father.
If we use the same name “church” on the murderer as on the
victims for the murderer, how then can we know what that
means when someone says “church”?
Right since the great falling away took place a very long
time ago and the first churches came into existence,
2 Thess. 2:3, God’s people have lived in slavery under
Satan’s churches and denominations. The churches have
all the time served the devil, but pretend to be God’s
servants and representatives. The churches have never
been any God’s assemblies or God’s temples. They have
already from their beginning been harlot beings. They
are born through religious fornication. People have
mixed God’s word with doctrines of evil spirits, and so
new churches appear.

EXCELLENT book that not only shows how brother David sees and interprets the Scriptures, but also gives full information on the competing views of when Jesus returns.
Humbly written and presented, I believe this is the best book I have read on the issue of when our Lord Jesus returns. (The only drawback I see is the unfortunate use of the NIV.)
Another bonus is his (not footnoted/referenced, sadly) mention that the ‘Lord’s Day’ mentioned in Revelation did not refer to a day in the week but actually a day in the year that all Roman’s had to declare Caesar ‘lord’. WOW on so many levels, not least of which is the stab at the SUNday/so-called ‘Lord’s Day’ camp.
Well done brother David. Yah bless you richly.

I believe Jesus is coming back after the tribulation… I mean Jesus said it Himself in Mathew 24:29-31 and Paul says it in 1 Thess. Chapter 4: I believe what I believe however though because people use to tell me their beliefs and I started getting confused when I first became a christian… So I decide to pray and look in the word about the end times and fast some and my conclusion is I believe it is right in front of us that He is coming back after the tribulation of those days like Matthew said… If it were not so Jesus would have said so. Amen. The thief in the night represents that we need to be right with Jesus in our heart so that day will not catch us unaware… The days of Noah will be like the coming of the Son of man represents the second coming also… Although no one knows the day or hour of His coming as it says in Mathew 24 also Jesus did however, say His coming would be after the tribulation of those days… Not before, after… Amen… God bless…
